CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
AT NORTHLAKE

Children are important at Northlake Baptist Church!  We believe that children are learning from the moment they’re born and we strive to show them Jesus’ love each time they come.  God’s love is taught through Biblical concepts combined with personal compassion for each child.  We provide age-appropriate activities for preschoolers through pre-teens to begin laying a foundation so that one day they can choose to accept Jesus as their personal Savior and Lord.  Each program and activity provided for children employs Bible-based curriculum to help them learn more about God’s Word and His world, showing them how to apply this knowledge to their lives by living in a way that honors Him.  It’s a joy to be part of each child’s life and watch as they grow in their understanding of God’s love.  Take a look at some of the activities we offer and if you have any questions, give me a call.  I look forward to meeting you!  Kelly Chronister, Interim Kid’s Ministry Director  (972-487-1293)

SECURITY FOR PRESCHOOLERS

    • Keeping children safe is essential to Northlake’s Preschool Ministry.  When parents with preschoolers arrive, they’re asked to register their child through a computer kiosk.  A tag is placed on every preschooler and parents are given a slip, which has a corresponding number.  Children will only be released to an adult who has the matching number.

 BIBLE STUDY

    • We offer Bible Study classes for all ages at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday morning.  Children and preschoolers have classes divided by age or school grade.  Each class, from birth through 5th grade, learns about God’s perfect truth in ways that are enjoyable, biblical, and age-appropriate.  Preschool classes meet in the preschool building on the south side of our campus, while 1st through 5th grade classes meet on the second floor of our educational building located above the office suite on the church’s north side.

 WEDNESDAY NIGHTS

    • Currently on Wednesday nights, we do not have any specific ministry for children.  There is, however, childcare available for parents who participate in our ESL ministry or other ministry program (Bible study or Adult Choir).

 FAMILY OUTINGS

    • We strive to equip modern families to live out the Deuteronomy 6 model.  We know from God’s Word that the best way to teach spiritual truth is for families to learn and apply it together.  With that in mind, we offer group family outings several times each year.  We take time out of busy schedules to encourage families to connect, doing everything from visiting pumpkin farms to hosting game nights

FAMILY FALL FESTIVAL

    • Each year in late October, Northlake provides a FREE Halloween-Alternative Carnival that we call our Fall Family Festival.  We offer games, prizes, food–sometimes even a Petting Zoo!  Our church members volunteer their time and financial resources to build and operate a variety of booths–providing great activities for every member of the family.  Be sure to watch for more information as October approaches.

FUN-DAY FRIDAYS

    • Each summer, we provide activities for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade on different Fridays (see calendar for specifics).  Sometimes we take church buses on an excursion adventure, and sometimes we play games at the church.  This is the great time for kids to invite friends for an exciting afternoon at Fun-Day Friday.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

    • Vacation Bible School (VBS) is one of Northlake’s annual highlights, when church buildings are transformed into exciting and exotic locations for Bible-based fun!  Each year is different in theme, music, snacks, and individual lessons, yet our commitment to excellence never changes.  Every child who has completed Kindergarten through 5th grade is invited to join us for a week of exciting worship, Biblical discoveries, and endless fun as we launch out on yet another VBS adventure!

 PRE-TEEN CAMP

Each summer, children who have completed 3rd through 5th grade can spend an exciting week at PreTeen Camp.  Traveling to locations like Mt. Lebanon Retreat & Conference Center in Cedar Hill, kids enjoy a week of teamwork, swimming, fun activities, and—most importantly—spiritual growth.  The entire experience is designed to give children the opportunity to meet Jesus, but there are countless opportunities to enhance your child’s spiritual experience with personal excitement!  Each day is filled with Bible Study, swimming, obstacle courses, climbing wall and zip line (challenge course events are taken by choice, not compulsion).  Each night there’s a specially designed worship service with great music and a message aimed at the interests and understanding of children.  Watch for more information as summer approaches, so you can pack your bags and get ready to go!
