Turning Right on the Roman’s Road: God’s Righteousness vs. Our Wrongfulness

TURNING RIGHT…ON THE ROMAN’S ROAD:
DIVINE RIGHTEOUSNESS vs. HUMAN WRONGFULNESS
(Romans 3:21-31)

  1. Man’s ______________ is felt by us ____________.       (vv.21-23)

  1. God’s ______________ has taken our ___________.        (vv.24-26)

  1. Faith is in __________ because God cares for _________.  (vv.27-31)

“Our peace and confidence are to be found not in our empirical holiness, not in our progress toward perfection, but in the alien righteousness of Jesus Christ that covers our sinfulness and alone makes us acceptable before a holy God.”
(Donald Bloesch, 20th century theologian and pastor)

“God saves believers by imputing to them the merit of Christ’s perfect righteousness—not in any sense because of their own righteousness. God accepts believers in Christ. He declares them perfectly righteous because of Christ. Their sins have been imputed to Christ, who has paid the full penalty. His righteousness is now imputed to them, and they receive the full merit for it.”
(John MacArthur, The Glory of Heaven)

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!  All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:  That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them.  …God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”
(2 Corinthians 5:17-19, 21)
